Our story

Why we built WiseTalk.

"The internet is full of advice. What people often need is a conversation."

Career decisions rarely happen in isolation. A student is deciding whether to take an offer. Someone early in their career is wondering whether to switch jobs. Another person is trying to understand whether an MBA, a new skill or a different role makes sense.

There is plenty of information available online for all of these questions. What is harder to find is someone who understands the situation and can say, "I've been there."

WiseTalk was built around that gap.

We connect people with working professionals who can share practical context from their own experience, not as a replacement for research, but as another perspective to help someone think more clearly.

The goal isn't to tell you what decision to make.

It's to help you make a better-informed one.

Mission and vision

What we are working towards.

We want career conversations to become easier to access, more relevant to the person asking and more grounded in real professional experience.

Our mission

Give everyone access to professionals

Your network shouldn't determine whether you get useful career perspective. WiseTalk aims to make conversations with experienced professionals easier to access, regardless of where you study, work or come from.

Relevant experience should be easier to reach.

Our vision

An India where no career decision is made alone.

We want to build a culture where asking someone who has already been through something is a normal part of making a career decision.

Better decisions start with better conversations.

What we believe

Four principles behind every WiseTalk conversation.

People over content

Information can tell you what something is. A conversation can help you understand what it means for your situation.

Real experience

Mentors bring professional experience from the roles, industries and decisions they have actually encountered.

Fair, clear prices

Career guidance should be easier to access. Clear session formats and pricing help people choose what fits their needs.

Your context matters

The same career advice doesn't work for everyone. Conversations should start with your situation, goals and question.

How we're different

What WiseTalk is, and what it isn't.

WiseTalk is

  • 1:1 conversations with working professionals
  • Practical perspective based on experience
  • Focused sessions around specific questions
  • A place to explore career decisions
  • Different mentors for different situations
  • A way to access perspectives outside your existing network

WiseTalk is not

  • A replacement for professional qualifications
  • A promise of a particular career outcome
  • Generic motivational content
  • A guarantee that someone will make the decision for you
  • A substitute for your own research and judgment

Meet the founder

A note from the person who started it.

Gaurav Srivastava, founder of WiseTalkGaurav Srivastava, founder of WiseTalk
Wrote this after sitting through a placement season that ended without an offer.
"More than ninety five percent of my batch did not get placed. Nobody had a plan for what we were supposed to do next."

I started WiseTalk because...

Placement season in my final year was over quickly. A few names were called out. The rest of us watched it end without an offer and started looking for work outside.

The placement cell did its job. Forms, drives, company lists. What nobody there could give us was the one thing we actually needed: someone who had been rejected, found a job anyway, and could say how. Not encouragement. Instructions.

So we asked seniors when we could find them, read forums when we could not, and guessed at the rest. That guessing cost some of my friends months.

I started WiseTalk so the next batch does not have to guess.

One conversation with someone who has already done it beats a hundred generic tips, and it should cost less than lunch.

Our timeline

Where we are so far.

WiseTalk is still being built. Here's how the idea has developed so far.

  1. May 2026

    The idea

WiseTalk begins with a simple question: what if people could talk directly to professionals who had already faced similar career decisions?

  2. July 2026

    First conversations

The first mentor conversations help validate the idea and reveal what people actually want from career guidance.

  3. NowSeptember 2026

    First mentors live

The first group of mentors joins WiseTalk and begins taking sessions, across placements, job switches and higher studies.

  4. Next

    More mentors, more topics

We are opening WiseTalk up to more mentors and more career topics so that more people can find someone relevant to their question.

Why WiseTalk

The point isn't more advice. It's better context.

Search engines can give you information. Friends can give you opinions. WiseTalk is designed to help you access the perspective of someone who has actually worked through a similar situation.

Relevant person

Find someone whose experience matches the question you're asking.

Focused conversation

Start with one situation instead of consuming endless generic advice.

Your decision

The mentor shares perspective. You make the decision.
